Jules O’Rear has demonstrated a consistent and genuine commitment to investing in his community. For Rebuilding Together Montgomery County (RTMC), he’s served as one our trusted volunteer handyman and helped manage our handyman program, which helps families remain safe in their homes by performing minor repair and maintenance they cannot perform themselves. He has served as area coordinator for National Rebuilding Day where he supervises and supports project sites, volunteers, and is in charge of planning and managing a safe, quality project that will be a meaningful experience for both the volunteers and the homeowner. He has also performed countless site visits to assess the scope of work for each homeowner. Last but certainly not least, Jules served two terms as a RTMC board member where he provided strategic direction and relevant information about the trades as they related to our line of work. His countless repairs and home renovations literally have prevented some families from even becoming homeless! In addition to supporting RTMC, Jules has volunteered with GreenHome, Mobile Med, First Time Computers, Roosevelt Island and Rock Creek Park cleanups, Sierra Club/Amnesty International candlelight vigils, D.C. SHARE, KEEN, Food and Friends, and has helped with the Combined Federal Campaign.
