Mid Atlantic Federal Credit Union
Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union (MAFCU) is deeply committed to community service and engagement. MAFCU volunteers assisted Manna Food Center in distributing food to those experiencing hunger in the community. These volunteers supported any need related to Manna’s core food distribution program including packing boxes for daily distribution, sorting rescued produce and helping clients as they picked up their food. The staff at MAFCU dedicated more than 450 hours throughout 2013. In addition to the ongoing partnership with Manna, MAFCU participated in more than 300 community activities in 2013 with organizations such as: Interfaith Works, the Academy of Finance, Montgomery County Community College, Women Who Care Ministries, Financial Literacy Organization for Women and Girls and the Montgomery County 100,000 Homes Campaign. There were several instances where MAFCU contacted Manna with ideas on how they could do more. They have opened doors for us by sponsoring our participation in networking events. In addition to volunteering monthly, they donated hundreds of pounds of turkey and beef after seeing the continued need of Manna clients. MAFCU leadership supported financial literacy learning workshops to our clients. What is extraordinary about the MAFCU service is that they do not look at volunteer work as an obligation, but as an opportunity to make a difference in their community.
