Tax-Aide Schedulers and Facilitators

Schedulers

Schedulers arrange appointments for taxpayers at approximately 20 tax preparation sites county-wide. Appointments are made using the Acuity scheduling software. In addition, schedulers explain to taxpayers what information and items must be brought to their Tax-Aide appointment. Schedulers work in a central scheduling office. The office is located at the Board of Elections, 18753 North Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg, MD. Please note this is a new location - Holiday Park Senior Center is undergoing renovations and is unable to accommodate the scheduling office this year. Hours of operation are 9:30 am to 3:00 pm Monday to Friday starting Monday, January 30, 2017. The Scheduling Office is open until April 18, 2017. We ask that volunteers commit to at least one 4 hour shift per week throughout the tax season.

Facilitators

Facilitators work at the tax preparation sites to welcome taxpayers and distribute the necessary forms.  They maintain the appointment logs, ensure that taxpayers are helped in an appropriate order, and assign each taxpayer to a Tax Counselor.  We ask that volunteers commit to at least one day per week during tax season, February 6 – April 18.  

Schedulers and Facilitators

Some volunteers like to work one day in the scheduling office making appointments and one day onsite helping tax payers.   If you are interested in this option, please choose Scheduler/Facilitator as role on the registration form.
