Project Goal/DescriptionTo have Montgomery County residents bring and drop off paper to be shredded on site by a paper shredding company. Volunteers help by assisting with the event, with traffic flow, unloading vehicles, and breaking down cardboard boxes. Shredding takes place about 6 times per year in 6 locations throughout the County.
Timeline for Planning
An individual volunteer or a group volunteer coordinator contacts the Recycling Volunteer program and gets details about dates and locations, then lines up a volunteering time and place.
How Many VolunteersAnywhere between 5 and 15, depending on the event. Children of all ages are welcome as long as they’re accompanied by a parent or guardian. Time commitment for volunteers is three to four hours at the site.

Required Facilities, Materials & Expenses
The only expense is transportation to and from the event.
Challenges-Some physical labor can be involved, including lifting heavy boxes filled with paper. -Possible very hot/cold/rainy weather (or super hot weather) – the event takes place rain or shine (unless very inclement).
